A drunk and some trees

I went to subway for lunch a couple of days ago. There was a drunk homeless guy ahead of me in line, he stood out from the other drunk homeless people at subway because he slightly resembled Zatoichi (the blind masseuse, a character from 60s-80 japanese cinema). He was asking how the subway gift cards worked and the cashier was very dismissive of him, he looked like he didn't care, must be use to it by now. Any how when I got back to the office I did a doodle of him.

Later on that night I went to the Empire to see Grandanalog play, it was pretty damn good. I haven't seen too many local hip-hop acts that I've liked but he was tight. Ran in to Wally and Al at the Empire, so few too many drinks later, on my way home I was enamored by a couple of trees I saw on a boulevard. I spent a couple of seconds just looking at these trees then all of a sudden it started to snow. The snow was illuminated by the street light and the whole scene looked almost spectral. After a few more seconds looking at the trees, I walked over to the trees with a look of wonder about me and took a much needed piss on them, did I mention I was hammered? Here is a doodle of the trees.

Damn it!!

I've been working for an advertising agency for the past 4 years, and let me tell ya, I'm pretty sick of advertising (the majority of it anyway). How I got to be "art director" I'll never know. Subsequently a few months ago I developed these rat stickers which I was planning to use in what I call my "brand loyalty social project", basically I'd bomb the whole city with these stickers, taking special care to sticker over any advertising work I'm personally responsible fore and unhappy with (pretty much 90% of it).

Now here's where it all goes wrong, I was watching a show about Shepard Fairey today, yes the Shepard Fairey, who every one in the design/art community has known about for the past 10 years, including myself. And it hits me, thats exactly what he did, he came up with the OBEY giant and started gorilla branding, He even stickered over some of his own advertising work!! How the hell did I forget about Shepard!?

Oh well my, other plan is to use this t-shirt graphic as a stencil or sticker, but rest assured I'll figure out a way to set those rats loose on the city.

I'm planning on repainting the frame, just not sure what color. Its down to either white, gold or maybe a neon orange... what I'm serious.

the Zog

So here it is my first post on this blog. I don't really want to repeat too much of the stuff I have up on my site or myspace. This means I dont have a whole lotta new work to dump on here right now, so for now here's a doodle of my creative idle, writer/director/producer and all around good-guy Werner Herzog.

Peace out!
